Lighting control systems for your home

Professional lighting control by Lutron and Rako. Whole home and room level systems designed, installed, and programmed for homes across Kingston, Richmond, Surrey and South West London.

Command of every light in your home

Lighting control gives you complete command of the atmosphere in your home. Instead of walking from switch to switch, a single keypad or tap on your phone sets every light in the room to exactly the right level. Whether you are cooking, relaxing, entertaining, or heading to bed, a well designed lighting control system adapts your home to how you actually live.

We design, install, and programme lighting control systems for homes across Kingston, Richmond, Twickenham, Surbiton, and South West London. From a single room upgrade to a whole home installation, we work with industry leading manufacturers to deliver systems that are reliable, elegant, and genuinely easy to use.

Why professional lighting control?

Smart bulbs rely on Wi-Fi and apps. If the network drops, lights stop responding. Professional lighting control uses dedicated wireless protocols (Lutron Clear Connect, Rako RF) or hardwired connections that work independently of your home Wi-Fi.

Consumer smart bulbs often flicker or buzz at low levels. Professional systems use trailing edge dimming and manufacturer tested LED compatibility lists to deliver smooth, silent dimming across every circuit. Beautifully designed wall keypads from Lutron and Rako mean anyone in the household can use the system without reaching for a phone, and they come in a wide range of finishes to suit any interior.

Scenes are at the heart of the experience. One touch presets adjust multiple circuits at once. A "dinner" scene might dim the pendants to 40%, bring up accent lighting, and switch off the downlights. A "goodnight" scene turns everything off. Because these are manufacturer backed systems with proper technical support, firmware updates, and a dealer network, they are designed to last decades, not until the app is discontinued.

Systems we install

Lutron

The global leader in lighting control with over 60 years of experience. We install and programme two Lutron systems.

RadioRA 3 is a wireless system ideal for existing homes, extensions, and renovations. Each processor supports up to 200 devices, and two processors can be paired for up to 400. It uses Lutron's reliable Clear Connect wireless technology, independent of your home Wi-Fi. Controlled via Sunnata keypads, the Lutron app, or voice assistants. Includes support for Lumaris intelligent lighting (tunable white tape light and downlights) and Triathlon motorised shading.

HomeWorks QSX is Lutron's flagship processor based system for new builds and major renovations. It integrates lighting, blinds, HVAC, and third party systems into a single platform, with premium Alisse and Palladiom keypads. The choice for whole home automation at the highest level. See our Lutron lighting control page for full details.

Rako

Designed and manufactured in the UK, Rako offers flexible and scalable lighting control for homes of all sizes.

Wireless is retrofit friendly with no rewiring required. Wireless dimmers and keypads communicate via Rako's RF protocol. Add a bridge for app control and scheduling. Perfect for adding lighting control room by room.

Wired centralises dimming via RAK4 and RAK8 dimmer racks for new builds and renovations. Full programming through RASOFT software including time clocks, macros, and blind and curtain motor integration. See our Rako lighting control page for full details.

How we work

1Consultation

We visit your home (or review plans for a new build) to understand how each space is used, what matters to you, and what is technically possible. This is free and without obligation.

2Design

We create a lighting control scheme covering which circuits to control, where keypads go, what scenes to programme, and which system suits your project and budget.

3Installation

All wiring, keypads, dimmers, and processors are installed by us. For retrofit projects, wireless systems mean minimal disruption. For new builds, we coordinate with your builder or project manager during first fix.

4Programming

Every scene, schedule, and automation is programmed and tested. We fine tune dimming levels on site with you so each scene looks and feels right.

5Handover

We walk you through the system, show you how the keypads and app work, and make sure everyone in the household is comfortable using it. We provide ongoing support if you want to add or adjust anything later.

Rooms and spaces

Lighting control belongs in any room where the lighting does more than one job.

  • Kitchens — layer task lighting over the worktops with ambient lighting for dining. Switch between bright cooking mode and a warm evening scene with one touch.
  • Living rooms — accent lighting, wall washing, and dimmable downlights combined into scenes for relaxing, reading, or entertaining.
  • Bedrooms — gentle wake up schedules and a single "goodnight" button by the bed.
  • Home cinemas and media rooms — lights dim automatically when you press play.
  • Gardens — automated sunset scheduling, pathway scenes, entertaining presets.
  • Whole home — an "away" scene that turns everything off. A "welcome home" scene that lights the hallway and kitchen as you walk in.

Our work

We are currently installing a Lutron RadioRA 3 system in a residential property in the Kingston area. This will be our first lighting control showcase, and we will share photos and details of the installation here once complete. In the meantime, if you would like to discuss a lighting control project, please get in touch.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a lighting control system cost?

It depends on the system, the number of rooms, and the level of control. A single room Rako wireless setup might start from a few hundred pounds. A multi room Lutron RadioRA 3 system typically ranges from £2,000 to £8,000 depending on scale. Whole home HomeWorks QSX installations for larger properties start from £15,000 upwards. We provide a detailed quote after the consultation.

Can lighting control be added to an existing home?

Yes. Both Lutron RadioRA 3 and Rako wireless systems are designed for retrofit installation. They use wireless communication between devices, so there is no need to rewire your home. We can add lighting control room by room or across the whole house.

What is the difference between Lutron and Rako?

Both are excellent systems. Lutron is the global market leader with a premium feel and the widest range of integrations. Rako is UK made, offers great flexibility, and is often a strong choice where value and scalability matter. We can advise on which system suits your home and budget during a consultation.

Do I need special light fittings?

In most cases, your existing LED downlights and fittings will work. We check compatibility as part of the design process and recommend alternatives if any fittings are not suitable for smooth dimming.

Can I control the lights from my phone?

Yes. Both Lutron and Rako have dedicated apps for iOS and Android. You can control lights, adjust scenes, and set schedules from anywhere. But the system also works perfectly from the wall keypads, no phone required.

What about blinds and curtains?

Both Lutron and Rako can integrate motorised blinds and curtains into the lighting control system. Blinds can be included in scenes. A "movie" scene that dims the lights and closes the blinds simultaneously is a typical example.
